Notable Research Contributions:

65 peer reviewed scientific publications in national and international journals.

  1. Plants – Three new plant species are under publication
  2. Freshwater Crabs of the Western Ghats – Discovered 20 new species and one new genus across Maharashtra, Goa, and Karnataka.
  3. Lesser-Known Species of peninsular India – Surveyed over 50,000 km, leading to the discovery of 66 new lizard species, three arachnid species, two new species of frogs, one new genus and five new snake species.
  4. Land Snails of Northern Western Ghats – Identified three new species and one new genus through extensive field surveys.
  5. Freshwater Fishes of India – Discovered three new fish species, including Rakthamichthys mumba, a blind subterranean eel found in Mumbai.
  6. Birds of Andaman & Nicobar Islands – Conducted extensive field studies, recording two new bird species for India and eight new records for the Nicobar Islands.
  7. Understanding Biogeographic Processes – Recognized granite boulders as climate refugia for cool-adapted taxa for millions of years; uncovered diversification of Cnemaspis geckos and discovered a dozen new Hemiphyllodactylus geckos on sky islands.
